Mini bio
Before the duo.
Marcos grew up in a village in Piauí and later studied graphic design in São Paulo. Kelvin came from coastal Bahia and studied journalism, making his first short film at university. They met in 2016 and began building a shared practice in São Paulo.
How they came together.
In their METAL interview, they recalled knowing of each other online before discovering they were staying in neighboring rooms on a cruise. They initially worked separately while helping one another. An invitation to sign a project together became the start of Mar + Vin.
A shared way of seeing.
They told Models.com that race, gender, sexuality and politics matter to their image-making. Their work also draws on everyday light, food, memories and the places they come from. Fashion gives them room to build imagined worlds.
Work that brought recognition.
Their ELLE Brasil covers include Viola Davis and Erykah Badu. ELLE also credits them with the cover of its first print edition, featuring Iza. In 2023 they joined the British Fashion Council’s New Wave: Creatives selection. Their later milestones include joining the BoF 500 in 2025 and winning FFW’s Photographer of the Year award in 2026.
