Mini bio
How it started.
Mario grew up in the Bronx, the youngest of four children. A fragrance-consultant job at Sephora led him toward makeup when a customer asked for help choosing lipstick. At 17, he took on a cabaret makeup job with products packed in a Nike shoebox.
Finding his signature.
Working with Kim Kardashian from 2008 helped Mario develop a recognizable style. Their sculpted, soft-glam looks reached an audience far beyond the makeup chair. His client list also includes Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Salma Hayek.
Sharing the process.
Mario started The Master Class in 2009 with 16 students. Teaching became a central part of his work, giving fans and other artists a way to understand the decisions behind the finished face.
From techniques to products.
On October 1, 2020, he launched Makeup by Mario with 21 products and tools for eyes and skin. His aim was to turn the techniques he taught into products that beauty lovers and professional artists could use.
