Mini bio
How it started.
Davis grew up in Manchester in a Trinidadian-Jamaican family where making clothes was familiar. Their grandmother taught them to sew, and a teenage apprenticeship with their mother’s tailor gave that interest a practical footing. After graduating from London College of Fashion in 2017, Davis worked as a junior designer for Wales Bonner.
A personal beginning.
In 2020, Davis launched Maximilian through Fashion East. Research into their late grandmother’s Trinidadian heritage and Carnival shaped the first collection. Rihanna and Dua Lipa were early fans. Davis later explained to CULTURED that studying family history made the work feel personal in a way earlier research for other brands had not.
Building at Ferragamo.
Ferragamo appointed Davis creative director effective 16 March 2022. Their first collection for the house followed that September, pairing a vivid red with references to both Trinidad and Ferragamo’s Hollywood shoe archive. The Hug bag arrived with Fall/Winter 2023, and Davis won the British Womenswear Designer Award at The Fashion Awards that December.
