Mini bio

How it started.

Michelle grew up in Indiana and moved to New York to study at Parsons. Fashion magazines and films such as 13 Going on 30 fed that early interest. Internships at Valentino, Karla Otto, and NYLON gave her different views of the industry. In her own career retrospective, she credits NYLON editor Marissa Smith with mentorship that helped her keep going.

Finding a voice.

At Refinery29, Michelle worked her way from social media into fashion editorial. Becoming Teen Vogue’s fashion and beauty editor gave her room to develop her own ideas through styling and writing. Her work included shoots with roller skaters and Figure Skating in Harlem, bringing personal style into stories about real communities.

Making room for her own work.

Michelle later led influencer marketing at Tory Burch, starting at the end of 2022. In April 2026, she wrote about leaving that role and making space for learning and independent projects. Good Fantasy brings those interests together through secondhand shopping, outfit experiments, photography, and travel writing.

A place to experiment.

In a 2026 Lotus interview, Michelle traced her love of posting back to Tumblr, dressing up, and learning to edit school videos. She described wanting an online space for curious people who love fashion and want to adapt ideas to their own wardrobes.
