How it started.
Mike moved from Russia to New York with his family as a child. Watching his father train and care for patients helped draw him toward medicine. He completed an accelerated seven-year BS/DO program at NYITCOM, then began sharing his medical journey online during residency.
When the internet found him.
A BuzzFeed feature and People magazine’s “Sexiest Doctor Alive” title brought him attention in 2015. He used that visibility to talk about vaccines, preventive health and medical myths. His videos grew into a mix of explanations, medical drama reactions and conversations with guests.

His podcast, The Checkup with Doctor Mike, launched in 2022 and explores guests’ physical, mental and emotional health. He also founded the Limitless Tomorrow Foundation in 2015 to support students, and says all money raised through his Patreon goes to charities or causes chosen by patrons.
