Mini bio
How it started.
Morgan did not set out to become a writer. After an investment banking internship put him off that career, he moved into private equity. When credit markets seized up in 2007, a friend suggested The Motley Fool. He tried writing and stayed for nine years, developing a love for explaining investing.
Finding his subject.
He joined Collaborative Fund in 2016 after writing for The Motley Fool and The Wall Street Journal. His work explores the ways people’s experiences, ambitions, and emotions shape financial decisions.
The books.
The Psychology of Money brought his approach to book readers in 2020. Same as Ever followed in 2023, looking at patterns that persist through change. In 2025, The Art of Spending Money turned to how money can support a happier life.
Still sharing ideas.
Alongside his books, Morgan publishes essays and hosts The Morgan Housel Podcast. His official website also links to his YouTube channel, where fans can hear his ideas in his own voice.
