Mini bio

How it started.

Nick grew up in Salina, Kansas, and began working at Joseph P. Roth and Sons Clothiers in 1976. After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1982, he moved to New York in January 1983. His route into fashion included advertising jobs before retail roles at Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, and Bergdorf Goodman.

The street became a stage.

By 2010, Nick was men’s fashion director at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Street-style photographers began turning his outfits into a public calling card around his fiftieth birthday. In his Photographic Memory interview, he looks back on the surprise of becoming known for his own clothes after decades working behind the scenes.

Making clothes his own.

His collaborations translate that personal wardrobe into things fans can wear: tailoring with Lardini, clothing with KUON and THE ONITSUKA, and chunky footwear with Scarosso. In 2025, he joined Allen Edmonds as a creative consultant. A 2026 Mensweird interview describes a remit that reaches from product to photography and stores.
