Mini bio

How it started.

Before the podcasts, Nikhil left school and worked at a Bangalore call centre as a teenager, trading stocks in his spare time. He started equity trading at 17 and co-founded Zerodha with his older brother Nithin in 2010.

From investing to asking questions.

He went on to co-found True Beacon in 2019 and Gruhas with Abhijeet Pai in 2021. In March 2023, the first “WTF is” episode brought Tanmay Bhat, Umang Bedi and Aprameya Radhakrishna together to unpack the metaverse, media and technology.

Conversations fans can settle into.

“WTF is” explores industries through group conversations, while “People by WTF” features individual guests. The Narendra Modi episode in January 2025 and Elon Musk episode that November became notable entries in the series.

Making room for new builders.

Alongside the shows, Nikhil backs young entrepreneurs through WTFund, which supports founders under 25 through grants without taking equity. He joined the Giving Pledge in 2023 and names climate change, energy, education and health among his philanthropic interests.
