Mini bio
How it started.
Nisha grew up eating her mother’s Indian cooking and taught herself more through Food Network shows and cookbooks. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 2012, she worked as a lawyer for four years before moving into food.
Finding her audience.
After going vegan, she began sharing her cooking on Instagram and landed a job at a vegan food startup. She built Rainbow Plant Life around that job, then committed to it full time. In 2020, her YouTube videos began reaching hundreds of thousands and then millions of viewers.
From recipes to books.
The Vegan Instant Pot Cookbook arrived in 2019. Big Vegan Flavor followed in 2024, combining cooking techniques with 150 recipes. The second book became a New York Times bestseller and received a 2025 James Beard nomination.
In the kitchen today.
Her recipe process includes repeated kitchen trials, feedback from home testers, and further refinements. Fans can follow both the instructions and the reasons behind them through her written recipes and videos.
