Mini bio
How it started.
Piers studied journalism at Harlow College and began reporting for local newspapers, including The Wimbledon News. He moved into showbusiness reporting at The Sun, where he wrote the Bizarre column, before becoming editor of the News of the World in 1994.
From newspapers to television.
He edited the Daily Mirror from 1995 to 2004. His tenure ended when the paper published fabricated photographs purporting to show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. He later became familiar to television viewers as a judge on America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, and won the first US Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.
The interviews.
Life Stories began on ITV in 2009, giving guests room to talk through their lives. Piers also hosted CNN’s primetime interview programme from 2011 to 2014 and co-presented Good Morning Britain from 2015 to 2021. His work spans celebrity conversations, political arguments and sports interviews.
Building Uncensored.
Uncensored launched in April 2022 and became his main digital platform. He took ownership of the brand in January 2025. Since then, its expansion has included a weekly highlights programme on 5, spin-offs covering royalty and football, and an announced interview partnership with TIME Studios.
