How it started.
Rachael grew up around restaurant kitchens. After working at Macy’s and Agata & Valentina in New York City, she returned upstate. At Albany’s Cowan & Lobel market, she developed cooking classes that led to a weekly 30-Minute Meals segment on WRGB-TV.
The breakout.
30 Minute Meals reached Food Network in 2001. Her syndicated daytime show followed in 2006, mixing cooking with conversation and everyday advice. It ran for 17 seasons, ending in 2023.
Still cooking.
She co-founded Free Food Studios with longtime producing partners Brian Flanagan, Anthony Amoia and Sean Lee. Meals in Minutes and Rachael Ray in Tuscany bring viewers into her home kitchens. Her 2021 book This Must Be the Place pairs recipes with reflections on home, loss and rebuilding.
Beyond the kitchen.
Rachael founded Yum-o! and The Rachael Ray Foundation. Her work also includes Nutrish pet food and Staple Gin, developed with Do Good Spirits in New York’s Catskills.
