Mini bio

How it started.

Before making food content her full-time job, Rachel taught first grade at a private school. In 2020, she left teaching to focus on The Carboholic. Her own site traces the name to her sweet tooth and love of bread and pasta.

Her work combines restaurant discoveries with detailed rankings of pancakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies and hot chocolate. Her coverage has helped bring diners to small businesses: in a 2024 New York Post interview, Glace owner Sasha Zabar credited her with helping put his shop on the map. Her food photography has also appeared on LinkNYC screens.

From guides to new projects.

On Substack, Rachel shares dining diaries, travel itineraries and recipes. In March 2026 she began testing chocolate chip cookie recipes from NYC bakeries and restaurants at home. That October, she introduced Folio, a hotel-review app being developed by a five-person team, inspired by a disappointing hotel stay.
