Mini bio
First grade friends.
Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal met on September 4, 1984, at Buies Creek Elementary School in North Carolina. Mythical’s own origin story has them kept inside at recess for writing profanity on their desks, then coloring mythical beasts together. That shared curiosity became the thread running through their work.
Engineers with a comedy habit.
Both studied at NC State. Rhett graduated in civil engineering in 2000 and worked at Black & Veatch; Link graduated in industrial engineering in 2001 and worked at IBM. Their online career grew through comedy songs, sketches and low-budget local commercials. They began posting to YouTube in 2006.
A daily ritual.
They launched Good Mythical Morning in 2012, building a show around food experiments, games and the give-and-take of a long friendship. Ear Biscuits followed in 2013, giving them space for longer personal conversations. Their studio, Mythical, also makes shows beyond the duo’s own desk.
Beyond the morning.
Their projects include the scripted Buddy System and the surreal comedy series Wonderhole. They have also written Book of Mythicality, a guide filled with stories and activities, and the novel The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek. In 2026, they added a picture book about friendship and picky eating, Spaghetti Head & Chicken Fingers.
