Mini bio
How it started.
Rudy built his audience with short comedy on Vine, beginning in 2013, then launched his YouTube channel in 2016. Music was already central to his work. The limits of six-second videos taught him to build a story quickly, and longer formats gave him room to combine sketches, instruments and filmmaking.
Meet Diego.
Awkward Puppets gave that comedy a different cast: adult puppets in uncomfortable everyday situations. Rudy’s character Diego became a familiar face, with celebrity conversations on The Diego Show alongside the sketches. His musical work also took him onstage as an opener for Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour in Brazil.
A story in sound.
For his 2024 feature debut Música, Rudy brought together directing, co-writing, acting and composing. Inspired by his Brazilian-American background and his experience of synesthesia, the film turns everyday sounds into musical patterns. His real mother, Maria Mancuso, plays his mother onscreen, and puppet Diego appears too.
New characters.
Rudy later played Captain Pauly Russo in HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry. The role reunited him with Andy and Barbara Muschietti, collaborators he had worked with on The Flash, while new Diego Show episodes continued his puppet comedy in 2026.
