Mini bio

How it started.

Sarah grew up in Liverpool and began writing seriously at 27, starting with short stories and a writers’ group. She describes a twenty-year journey to publication, with workshops, author talks and plenty of revision along the way.

The first novel.

Witness X introduced her blend of crime and speculative science in 2020, published as S. E. Moorhead. Its neuropsychologist heroine uses technology to enter witnesses’ memories while pursuing a serial killer.

Questions of justice.

The Treatment followed in 2023. Psychiatrist Grace Gunnarsson discovers a flaw in a privatised offender rehabilitation system that allows people to get away with murder.

Beyond the novels.

A former secondary-school teacher and chaplain, Sarah has written true crime podcast scripts for Noiser/Spotify. She also interviews authors at Waterstones and coaches writers at the Bestseller Writing Academy.
