How it started.

Stephen worked in advertising before food became a new direction. A visual learner, they built a food blog with step-by-step photographs, then started Food Freak’s Grilled Cheese in 2011. The truck taught them cooking and business skills, but they closed it in 2013.

Finding the format.

Food photography came next, followed by their production company, Chopped Studios. Not Another Cooking Show launched in February 2018, bringing cooking and camera work together. By a February 2020 interview on Passion In Progress, Stephen was discussing the challenge of growing by 70,000 subscribers in two months and becoming known as the pasta guy.

Weekday sauce, penne alla vodka and spicy vodka rigatoni give fans a way into Stephen’s approach: familiar dishes explained through technique. In April 2025, they announced a Patreon cooking school with lessons, homework and live reviews, extending that teaching beyond the public videos.
