Mini bio

Before Your Rich BFF.

Vivian grew up in an immigrant family and went on to study at the University of Chicago. A trading job at J.P. Morgan came first. A mentor there helped Vivian understand retirement contributions, rent and the practical side of managing a paycheck.

Friends had questions.

After moving into sales at BuzzFeed, Vivian became the person colleagues asked about benefits and money. Seeing misleading financial advice spread during the pandemic helped turn those conversations into free, bite-sized TikTok lessons.

The first video found its people.

Your Rich BFF began on January 1, 2021. In a Numéro interview, Vivian recalled that the first video reached three million views and brought 100,000 TikTok followers in a week. The appeal was a peer explaining money in language friends could use.

More room for the conversation.

The work grew into Networth and Chill, launched in 2023, and the bestselling debut Rich AF. Well Endowed followed in 2026, taking the conversation into spending choices, family and long-term wealth. Vivian has also built Ask Dolly, a financial companion app.
