Before the lookbook.

Wendy immigrated from Vietnam to the United States at eight and entered foster care at fifteen. She worked three jobs in high school and went on to UC Berkeley. After college, she spent five years in finance before leaving banking to pursue a different path.

The scarf video.

Her 2011 tutorial, 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes!, became the breakthrough she credits with launching her style career. The quick demonstrations remain a welcoming entry point to her outfit tutorials.

Beyond outfits.

Wendy taught young people in San Francisco’s juvenile detention system and later mentored with InsideOUT Writers in Los Angeles. In 2015, she established the Wendy’s Lookbook Foundation to help young adults affected by juvenile justice with housing, medical, educational and financial needs.
