Mini bio
How it started.
Ariel started making book videos in 2011 after discovering readers discussing books on YouTube. She asked her dad to help set up a channel and kept reviewing what she read through school and university. After finishing her master’s degree, her audience was large enough for her to make content full-time.
Finding her readers.
Her BookTube work grew beyond reviews into shared reading projects. She created and hosted BookTubeAThon, later known as The Reading Rush, and became an official Man Booker Prize vlogger in 2015. In 2019, she and Raeleen Lemay started Books Unbound, talking about their reading and bookish lives.
Making a home.
Her videos now follow the renovation of an 1850s Gothic Revival house in Nova Scotia. She also researched, scripted, produced, filmed, and edited A Style Is Born for Wayfair, exploring the history behind interior design styles.
Books on the road.
In 2024, Ariel built Bissett Books, a mobile bookshop in a Japanese minitruck. The project brought together skills from renovating her house and years of recommending books, giving her a way to meet local readers in person.
