Mini bio

Before the videos.

Becky trained as a clinical psychologist after studying psychology and human development at Duke and earning her PhD at Columbia. In parent coaching, she initially used a behavior-first model built around rewards and punishments. She later developed an approach drawing on attachment, mindfulness, emotion regulation and internal family systems.

Finding her people.

She began posting on Instagram in 2020, bringing parenting conversations beyond her clinical practice. Her videos and workshops found an audience during the pandemic. By 2021, TIME had profiled her as the “Millennial Parenting Whisperer.” Her podcast launched that April and reached No. 1 on Apple’s Kids & Family chart.

Building Good Inside.

On her official site, Becky describes joining forces with fellow psychologist and mother of three Erica Belsky in 2020 to grow Good Inside. Her work centers on understanding the child behind the behavior and helping parents hold boundaries while staying connected.

From parent guides to picture books.

Her 2022 book Good Inside became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller. She brought repair after difficult moments to a 2023 TED talk, then began writing picture books with illustrator Joanie Stone: That’s My Truck! in 2025 and Leave Me Alone! in 2026.
