Mini bio

How it started.

Bobby’s official shop biography traces his earliest drawings to crayons on his family’s white living room walls. At 17, he landed his first professional art job designing Disney, Warner Bros., and Star Wars toys.

The film breakthrough.

He co-founded Imaginism Studios, which opened on March 9, 2005. The Toronto studio focuses on character and concept design. His big break came with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, where he and Kei Acedera were two of the film’s three credited character designers.

Building his own worlds.

In 2013, Bobby, Kei Acedera, Jim Bryson, and Adam Jeffcoat created the Niko and the Sword of Light animated comic app. It became an Amazon pilot in 2015, and the pilot won a Daytime Emmy in 2016.

Sharing what he learns.

Alongside his design work, Bobby co-founded Schoolism and LightBox Expo. His online work includes digital painting lessons and interviews with artists. He is now also developing An Infinite Story, with Magrid’s Magic Shoppe exploring how illustrations can become interactive adventures.
