Mini bio
Before the matching outfits.
Bon and Pon met at a specialist art school in Tokyo and married on 11 May 1980. Bon worked as a designer at an advertising agency, while Pon raised their two daughters. After his retirement and the children’s independence, they moved from their longtime home in Akita to Sendai.
A daughter’s suggestion.
They opened their shared Instagram in December 2016 after a coordinated family photo on their daughter’s account drew an unexpected response. Overseas websites and then Yahoo! News brought a much wider audience, followed by magazine interviews, books and clothing collaborations.
Clothes made to share.
Their Sunny clouds collaboration began with gingham shirts and dresses for summer 2019. In a 2024 conversation with fellow creator Mimi, they described making seasonal collections and the pleasure of finally having coordinated clothes made from the same fabric.
