Mini bio

How it started.

Brad began Ladyironchef on 29 March 2007 with a short promise to share his opinions on good food in Singapore. He later kept that first post online, writing candidly about how much his writing and photography had improved.

Finding his audience.

By 2010, he was discussing Singapore’s food blogs and dining scene in Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. In his fourth-anniversary post, he reported 222,000 unique visitors and 538,000 page views for February 2011. Later that year, Ladyironchef won Best Food Blog at the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards.

From a blog to a team.

The project grew into a food and travel publication with Brad as founder and chief editor. A 2019 recruitment post described a team producing restaurant reviews, café and hawker videos, travel vlogs and features for hotels and restaurants, alongside sister sites Tidbits Mag and The Halal Mag.

What fans come for.

His work moves between neighbourhood cafés, hawker favourites, Japanese restaurants and news from Singapore’s dining scene. Recent posts include a Marymount Bakehouse review and a look at Orh Gao Taproom and Peh Gao Coffeeshop, with specific dishes to help readers plan an order.

Trivia

  1. His About page says there is no reason or meaning behind the Ladyironchef alias.
  2. He remembers visiting the old Tiong Bahru Market with his parents on weekends as a child, and growing up eating its roasted duck.
  3. He kept his first blog post visible instead of hiding it, so readers could see how his writing and photos developed.
