Mini bio

How it started.

Born and raised in France, Carine later made New Zealand her home. She began with Sweet As Honey, developing low-carb baking recipes after a personal experience with prediabetes. Her first cookbook, Clean Bakery, followed in 2016.

A family kitchen.

Her husband Damien’s move to plant-based eating inspired another direction. Together they built The Conscious Plant Kitchen around vegan food. Carine develops the recipes and photographs them; Damien tastes, proofreads and helps publish them.

Her spinach tortillas became a viral recipe, prompting requests for a gluten-free version. French crepes also run through her work: she made them at her family’s restaurant in the Vosges mountains and later created an egg-free, dairy-free version.

What comes next.

The Conscious Plant Kitchen Bakebook is available to preorder for 2027. It brings together more than 80 recipes, including breakfasts, snacks, cookies and cakes, with ingredient swaps for different dietary needs.
