Mini bio
How it started.
Raised in rural South Carolina, Carlton trained at the Mayo Clinic and built a gastroenterology practice in San Diego. He told Queerty that his children’s enthusiasm for TikTok helped draw him onto the app during the pandemic in 2020.
Finding his audience.
His early videos about preparing for anal sex brought a surge of followers. He was surprised that many were women. He expanded into queer health education, discussing HIV prevention, STI testing, vaccinations and harm reduction.
Showing up during mpox.
During the 2022 outbreak, Carlton used videos and Instagram Live conversations to share information and hear from people with mpox. Out reported that he hosted White House response official Dr. Demetre Daskalakis and shared more than 1,000 vaccine clinic locations. San Diego Pride later named him its 2023 Hero of Pride.
Behind the microphones.
In July 2024, he and Dangilo Brian Bonilla began releasing Butt Honestly episodes, mixing listener questions about health, sex and relationships with guest conversations. In 2026, Carlton also joined Dangilo and producer Dr. Tony Bejerano for the AHS: 13 Honestly recap series.
