Mini bio
How it started.
Dave built an early career buying and selling real estate, then filed for bankruptcy with his wife Sharon in 1988. Rebuilding their finances led him to counsel others and teach the money principles that became his work.
Finding his audience.
In 1992, he launched The Money Game on a local Nashville station and self-published Financial Peace, selling copies from his car. His official biography says the show became Nashville’s top-rated radio program within two years.
From radio to a wider community.
National self-syndication began in 1996. Books, Financial Peace University, podcasts and YouTube brought his conversations about debt, saving and family finances to more listeners. His company’s media kit dates The Total Money Makeover to 2003 and the launch of online streaming video to 2013.
