Mini bio
How it started.
Caldwell Tanner and Nathan Yaffe were illustrators at CollegeHumor when they began recording their morning drawing warmups and conversation. Morning Drawfee started on Facebook in 2014 and soon grew into its own YouTube channel. The name plays on “morning coffee.”
Drawings worth remembering.
The show found a lasting format in artists trying to draw characters from memory or descriptions. The 2016 Pokémon from Memory episode became a breakout, especially Julia Lepetit’s interpretation of Spheal. Its appeal comes from watching an idea develop while the artists trade jokes and follow the drawing wherever it goes.
A show supported by fans.
After the CollegeHumor layoffs, Drawfee announced its independence on July 2, 2020 and launched a Patreon. Today its official site lists Nathan Yaffe, Jacob Andrews, and Julia Lepetit as hosts, with David Clarke editing the videos. Karina Farek was part of the team for seven years before the channel announced her departure in June 2026.
Beyond the weekly challenge.
Drawtectives brings the drawing table into an ongoing mystery, with Julia guiding the case and the players drawing their way toward clues. Draw Something Dumb lets fans try their own prompts in an activity book. The team has also collaborated with Caldwell Tanner and Pillow Fight on Drawnsters, a monster drawing party game still in development as of this research date.
Room to experiment.
In a Toon Boom interview, Julia described a community that gives the artists room to experiment and accept imperfect results. That spirit runs through the show’s drawing challenges, fan art, and guest collaborations.
