Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Ghana, Eddie says he discovered muscle building at 15. In his interview with The Bodcast Kenya, he traced his route through Starehe Boys’ school and lifting concrete weights in Nairobi before building his life in the UK.
From the ward to the stage.
Eddie worked as a nurse during his professional bodybuilding career. He won the British Championships in 1997, then placed third at the 2007 Ironman Pro, earning a place at that year’s Mr. Olympia.
Finding his audience.
His online identity grew around direct-to-camera food commentary, supermarket visits and a blunt “eat real food” message. On Empire Builders, he discussed how his daughter encouraged him to take that message online and why he sees debate as part of building an audience.
Food, family and community.
In 2024, he teamed up with GRM Daily for The Eddie Abbew Show, combining commentary with cooking alongside his daughter Selina. He also runs Abbew Crew, a paid community with a 90-day programme, recipe videos and weekly live question-and-answer calls. His videos present his personal dietary views and experiences.
