Mini bio
Two bands become one.
EP grew out of Lahore’s underground bands Entity and Paradigm. In a Dawn interview, Xulfi recalled making Humein Aazma with Ahmed Ali Butt and sending it to Pepsi Battle of the Bands without telling his bandmates. The acceptance brought the groups together as EP.
The album fans return to.
Aaroh won the competition, but EP secured an album contract. They went to Mekaal Hasan to record Irtiqa, released in 2003. Its songs bring together rap, rock and a concept built around evolution, with Hamesha, Waqt and Aghosh among the familiar titles.
Different chapters.
The band split in 2007 and returned in 2009. Their next chapter included Coke Studio’s Bolo Bolo and the single Shor Macha. After Fawad Khan and Waqar Khan left, Ahmed Ali Butt, Salman Albert and Hassaan Khalid continued with Ajab Tamasha in 2012.
A reunion to revisit.
Fawad Khan, Xulfi, Ahmed Ali Butt, Salman Albert, Hassaan Khalid and Sajjad Ali Khan reunited for Hamesha at the 2017 Pepsi Battle of the Bands finale. The performance brought their music back to the competition stage where so many listeners first met them.
