Mini bio
How it started.
Forrest grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe, with wildlife close at hand and a safari-guide mother who took him into the bush. His family returned to California after losing their farm in political turmoil. He turned to freediving and spearfishing, then studied biology at UC Santa Barbara.
From the field to the screen.
Wildlife fieldwork led to television. He completed a 21-day Naked and Afraid challenge in Panama, then became the host of Extinct or Alive, searching for evidence of species thought lost. The Animal Planet series began in 2018.
Building his own wildlife stories.
In 2020 he co-founded Phantasticus Pictures, connecting wildlife productions with conservation work. His memoir Still Alive followed in 2021. Today his work spans Shark Week specials, sanctuary documentaries and a YouTube channel filled with animal encounters and natural-history explainers.
