Mini bio
How it started.
Before G Herbo, there was Lil Herb, a young rapper from Chicago. His 2012 collaboration “Kill Shit” with Lil Bibby brought his voice to a wider audience and became an early touchstone of Chicago drill.
Music with names to remember.
His debut mixtape Welcome to Fazoland arrived in 2014. Its title honors his friend Fazon Robinson, who was killed by gun violence. Herbo’s detailed accounts of life around him became the thread running through the mixtapes that followed.
Growing into G Herbo.
He adopted the G Herbo name in 2015 and joined XXL’s 2016 Freshman class. Albums including PTSD and 25 made room for grief, trauma and the meaning of surviving into adulthood, alongside the forceful rapping fans first knew him for.
Keeping fans close.
His own G Herbo app offers exclusive music, concert footage and live content. For Lil Herb in 2025, he revisited earlier songs and videos to reconnect with the hunger of his beginnings.
