How it started.
Will grew up in Houston and performed stand-up at open mic nights before bringing his humor into medical school at Dartmouth. He began writing for Gomer Blog in 2015 and opened his Dr. Glaucomflecken Twitter account in 2016, during residency after a second testicular cancer diagnosis.
Finding his audience.
His ophthalmology jokes grew into sketches about medical specialties and the frustrations of American healthcare. During the pandemic, making clinicians laugh gave him a way to help. After surviving cardiac arrest in 2020, he increasingly used comedy to process his experiences as a patient and explain the system around him.
A shared story.
Kristin saved his life with CPR. Together, they bring the perspectives of doctor, patient and co-survivor to their podcast and Wife & Death stage show. His 30 Days of US Healthcare series also became the foundation for a free educational guide.
