Mini bio
Behind the camera.
Hardeep is one of Amar Kaur’s grandsons. He films her cooking and runs Veg Village Food, with cousins and uncles helping her prepare the food. Their family courtyard, wood-burning stove and enormous pots are familiar parts of the channel.
Early days.
A November 2020 Nosalty article dates the cooking vlog’s beginnings to November 2017. It describes a shift from Granny cooking family-sized meals to much larger batches shared with local children.
Recipes that travelled.
The channel’s 2020 video of Granny preparing 1,000 samosas became a standout. A September 2023 Indiatimes feature reported more than 145 million views for it. The cooking spans Indian street food, sweets, pizzas and burgers, with food shared with children in the village.
Beyond the videos.
The family also opened a Veg Village Food restaurant in Mohali. In a 2023 New York Times report republished by Jordan News, Hardeep explained that his grandmother continued cooking at home rather than working at the restaurant. Its interior, completed in 2022, draws on village textures and materials.
