Mini bio

Food from home.

Abinas grew up in Berhampur, Odisha, and worked at Infosys before building his cooking career. Living away from home in Thiruvananthapuram, he missed familiar meals and began experimenting in a shared kitchen, learning from cooking videos. He credits his mother and grandmother’s food as a lasting influence.

Finding his direction.

Winning Hungry For Haldiram in 2018 gave him confidence. The 2019 LokiCooks Fellowship brought mentorship from Loki Madireddi and helped him focus his ideas. On MasterChef India, he kept looking for opportunities to cook Odia dishes, from chicken besara at his audition to chhena poda in the finale. He won Season 6 in March 2020.

Keeping regional food in view.

He went on to co-found Rroshashala, a venture built around regional food, especially Odia cuisine. In a 2023 interview, he described a style that keeps familiar flavours while changing techniques and presentation. His work now reaches fans through cooking videos, food stories and collaborations such as Odia Trails and Odisha ra Gapa.
