Mini bio

How it started.

Kirti began baking while she was still at school, making cakes for school functions. In her Women Fitness interview, she credits her mother with encouraging her experiments and helping with early mornings and late nights when orders needed to go out. She founded Sugarplum Cakery while in college in 2015.

The turning point.

Her parents encouraged her to enter MasterChef India after college. She won season 5 in December 2016. Looking back, Kirti described the competition as an education in its own right, with restaurant work, new techniques and challenges that helped her grow beyond her home kitchen.

Beyond the home bakery.

Sugarplum Cakery grew into a Kolkata baking business offering cakes, cupcakes, macarons, choux pastries and more, with most products made without eggs. Her work also took her to Davos in January 2018 to prepare dessert for the World Economic Forum dinner hosted by Narendra Modi.

Cooking for fans.

Alongside the bakery, Kirti hosts Food Fiesta on Foodxp and shares recipes on Instagram and YouTube. Her videos range from eggless cakes and cookies to ravioli, salads and vegetable sandwiches, giving fans plenty to try in their own kitchens.
