How it started.

Hobbie told FAME that music began with a school rock band at about 11. Later, while working in a call centre, seeing friends Rizzle Kicks get a record deal encouraged a fresh start. With friend Alex Wells, Hobbie began recording covers for YouTube.

The covers that connected.

The March 2011 cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You” paired prerecorded instruments with a live lead vocal. By early 2012, Right Chord Music reported that it had passed a million views. In the same interview, Hobbie confirmed signing with Sony late in 2011.

Making original music.

Original releases include “Still Here” featuring Ghetts and the five-song 2016 EP Summer In the City. In 2020, Hobbie shared “A Lua Sem Você”, a first song in Portuguese written with their father, followed by “French Toast” and “Having My Child”. “Deliverance” followed in 2021 and “For Not Loving You” in 2022.

Oasis were an early influence: Hobbie recalled their dad playing the band in the kitchen, and named “Live Forever” as the song they wished they had written.
Hobbie told FAME that playing football with friends was a regular interest outside music.
