Mini bio

How it started.

ISSEI grew up wanting to perform, inspired in part by an actor father. After joining an agency and struggling to find acting work, they looked for a way to build an audience themselves. They started posting to TikTok in 2019 while balancing university, acting lessons and part-time work, as they recalled in Student Newspaper Online.

Finding the funny.

Early experiments included talking videos, silent jokes, tests and comedy. In a 2025 interview, ISSEI said viewers responded to their facial expressions and reactions. That approach became a way to reach people across languages. By January 2025, their YouTube channel had reached 50 million subscribers, a first for a Japanese creator according to Yutura.

Making room for others.

In September 2025, ISSEI launched AGBOGBLOSHIE STARS with artist Mago Nagasaka to help people in Ghana earn through video creation. The project combines nonverbal entertainment with local training and a pledge to return half its revenue to the community. In 2026, ISSEI returned after flooding and helped create a painting offered for recovery funding.
