How it started.
Jack’s route into book talk began with a rejected newspaper review of The Hunger Games. Encouraged to start a blog instead, he eventually moved to YouTube. At Durham, he documented university life to help prospective students feel more at home in higher education.
Finding his readers.
After graduating, he shared lockdown reading reviews and found a new audience of book lovers. He recalls reading the books referenced in Normal People as an early book-focused project. His channel grew around reviews, reading challenges and the books recommended by familiar faces from popular culture.
Beyond the bookshelf.
Jack published The Uni-Verse in 2020 and hosted the Booker Prize’s official livestream in 2023, followed by the International Booker livestream in 2024. In 2025 he launched Inklings, a book club and podcast pairing shared reads with author conversations, and became a contributing literary editor at Esquire UK.
Required Reading.
His celebrity interviews ask people about the books that matter to them. In a 2026 interview, he described his conversation with Cillian Murphy as a turning point after years of pitching the idea.
