Mini bio
A kitchen childhood.
Raised in Aix-en-Provence, Jean-Pierre learned alongside his mother, Yolande, a Cordon Bleu chef. A butcher-shop job at twelve preceded an apprenticeship at L’Oustau de Baumanière.
Restaurant to television.
He opened The Left Bank in 1976, then reached public television audiences with Sunshine Cuisine in 1994 and Incredible Cuisine in 1998. In 1997, he opened a cooking school.
Teaching online.
In his own account, the pandemic interrupted his cooking school and led to another retirement project: YouTube. His accessible lessons reached more than two million subscribers. Onion-dicing clips, including “How to Dice an Onyo,” are part of that online identity.
Back with friends.
In July 2026, he returned after almost a year away, explaining that he missed cooking with viewers and hearing their success stories.
