Mini bio

How it started.

Joe began by handing out flyers at his local station to bring people to early morning bootcamps in Richmond. He remembers pulling a trailer of dumbbells around the area, sometimes with nobody turning up. Posting quick #Leanin15 recipes on Instagram helped him find a wider audience.

Food meets fitness.

His first book, Lean in 15: The Shift Plan, came out in December 2015, combining simple recipes with home workouts. The same mix of food and movement runs through The Body Coach app and later cookbooks.

The living-room PE teacher.

During the pandemic in 2020, Joe started daily live YouTube workouts for children and families. PE with Joe reached 955,185 simultaneous viewers on 24 March 2020, earning a Guinness World Records title. His official account of the project says it raised more than half a million pounds for the NHS.

Keeping families moving.

Joe has continued making work for families, including the animated exercise series Activate with Studio AKA. In 2026 he introduced the family cookbook Healthy Start and Health or Hype, a podcast series with Bupa built around expert conversations and personal experiments.
