Mini bio

How it started.

Kayla began building her training career in Adelaide, working with women in backyards, at the beach and in a women-only training centre. She has been a certified personal trainer since 2008. Sharing her life and her clients’ progress on Instagram brought requests from women who wanted to train with her from afar.

The BBG breakout.

Those requests became a PDF: a 12-week program with three 28-minute workouts each week. The Bikini Body Guide spread through an online community sharing its progress. Kayla went on to lead bootcamps around the world and co-founded the Sweat app in 2015. The original guide lives on there as OG Kayla.

Beyond the original guide.

Kayla published healthy eating and lifestyle books in 2016 and 2017 and expanded her training options to include low-impact, pregnancy and post-pregnancy workouts. More recently, her own focus on strength training shaped Strength with Kayla and Strength In 30. In March 2026 she announced sole ownership of Sweat.

  3. She is an Endometriosis Australia ambassador and first shared her own endometriosis story publicly in 2021.
  4. Her second book drew on more than 40,000 survey responses from her online community.
