How it started.

John Michael grew up making music in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, beginning as a young singer in church. His work grew into independent pop songwriting and online videos that let fans watch him make music.

Finding his listeners.

Hypothetically became a breakout in 2022. By January 2023, JAM’N 94.5 reported that the song had passed 1.5 million Spotify streams in a few months. His online formats include making music in Minecraft, with strangers and with his parents.

Room to create.

In a January 2023 interview with HypeFresh, he explained that independence gave him creative control and ownership of his releases. His later catalog includes collaborations with JVKE and ZVC, alongside solo songs such as Carnival and Missing Piece.

He also writes and produces for other artists. Credits for Josiah Queen’s Yesterday Is Dead list him as a songwriter, producer, mixing engineer and multi-instrumentalist. He co-wrote and produced Dusty Bibles, which won Song of the Year at the 2026 GMA Dove Awards.
