Before Kat Can Cook.
Kat trained at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education before working for Martha Stewart, developing retail recipes and producing cooking segments for The Martha Stewart Show. Her cooking experience also includes private chef work.
Finding her own kitchen audience.
After stepping back from her career to be a stay-at-home mom, Kat returned to creating online in 2020. Her Hungry Lady Salads series launched in January 2022 and went viral, connecting her with home cooks who wanted generous, satisfying meals.
From bowls to books.
Her debut cookbook, Big Bites, arrived in January 2024 with 110 mostly gluten-free recipes and became a New York Times bestseller. Big Bites: Time to Eat! followed in January 2026 and also reached the list. Her approach centers on adding flavor and nourishment to the plate and enjoying the food you make.
