How it started.
Kéla grew up in North Carolina and later attended high school and college in New York, studying at Binghamton University. A temporary job at a local New York television network led to an assistant role, then producing and hosting. Kéla told CFDA that early projects included Fashion in Focus.
Finding an audience.
Alongside television, Kéla built Kéla’s Kloset to make personal style feel approachable. In a COCOTIQUE interview, Kéla recalled that a friend pushed the blog out of draft mode and described readers as “Kuties.” Red-carpet reporting and the blog became complementary ways to tell stories and share fashion.
Style you can wear.
In January 2023, Kéla released a nine-piece collection with Amazon’s The Drop, bringing colorful separates and versatile silhouettes into a limited shopping window. The work now spans fashion content, interviews and brand collaborations, including a 2025 holiday beauty video with ESSENCE and Ulta Beauty.
