Mini bio

How it started.

Kent grew up near Hollis, Oklahoma, helping his father with cattle. Before his cooking reached television or YouTube, he guided and fed hunters with his uncle in New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness, then cooked from a chuck wagon for working ranches.

From ranches to screens.

His chicken fried steak beat Bobby Flay on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. Shannon later encouraged him to film the cooking and stories he had gathered on the trail. Their Cowboy Kent Rollins channel brought that ranch experience to a much wider audience.

Cooking together.

Kent and Shannon published their first cookbook, A Taste of Cowboy, in April 2015, followed by Faith, Family & the Feast and Comfort Food the Cowboy Way. In 2025, they began hosting Cast Iron Cowboy on Outdoor Channel, visiting working ranches and preparing meals over open fires.
