Mini bio

A backyard beginning.

Miguel was born in Mexico and moved to California at six. He is self-taught: a disappointing family barbecue helped set him on his cooking path. In his Z Grills biography, he traces that spark to ribs that went wrong one Fourth of July.

Learning, then sharing.

On Stoke Sessions, Miguel described being inspired by his father-in-law and learning through YouTube. Posting his barbecue on social media brought a growing audience, with an encouraging invitation to try the food becoming part of his style.
