Mini bio

How it started.

Before Rabbit and Wolves, Lauren ran a vegan bakery in Tallahassee. Wanting more freedom and the chance to work from home, she started the blog in 2016. Her focus was comfort food that could welcome vegans and meat-eaters to the same table.

Finding her readers.

By 2021, Sarasota Magazine reported that she had published hundreds of recipes, attracted nearly 400,000 Instagram followers and had dishes featured on BuzzFeed. Southern Vegan brought her approach to a cookbook, with 60 plant-based recipes for Southern favorites. Delicious AF Vegan followed in 2023 with 100 recipes spanning breakfasts, one-pot dinners, party food and desserts.

Inside the kitchen.

Lauren develops and tests her recipes, then styles and photographs the finished dishes. Her About page says she is vegan for the animals. Before testing a new idea, she checks whether a similar recipe already exists because sharing original combinations matters to her.

Beyond the recipes.

Lauren also writes fiction as Lauren K. Boehme. In a February 2025 interview, she described a childhood dream of writing fantasy and explained that she publishes her novels independently. Her work includes the A War of Life and Death series and Beyond the Pale Ash Tree, a witch-centered mystery set in Salem in 1805.
