Mini bio
Family flavours.
Lisa grew up in Canada and spent summers in Japan watching their grandmother cook. Food became a hobby in high school in 2013. At university, missing home cooking led to FaceTime lessons with their mom and careful notes on family recipes.
Finding a community.
In a Total Wellness interview, Lisa recalled starting an Instagram account to meet other vegans, initially posting smoothie bowls and pasta. Returning home from university brought a renewed focus on Japanese and Chinese dishes and sharing the food they had missed.
Recipes fans make their own.
Rice paper dumplings became an online signature. Today, Okonomi Kitchen spans traditional Japanese meals, plant-forward ideas and desserts. In 2026, Lisa added a shared baking challenge through Pantastic Bake Club.
