Mini bio
How it started.
Lola Young grew up in South London and began writing songs around age 11. She attended the BRIT School and started releasing music in 2019. In an early interview, she remembered her first recording-studio session as the moment she knew where she wanted to be.
Finding her audience.
Her 2024 album This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway includes “Messy”, a song about being judged by contradictory expectations. The track spread on TikTok and reached number one in the UK in January 2025. Her collaborations include “Like Him” with Tyler, the Creator and “Charlie” with Lil Yachty.
Where the songs go.
I’m Only F**king Myself followed in September 2025, written and produced primarily with Manuka and SOLOMONOPHONIC. Its songs explore relationships, addiction and self-sabotage, mixing pop with guitar-driven sounds. In 2026, “Messy” earned her a Grammy and she won the BRIT Award for Breakthrough Artist.
