How it started.
Majid traces his interest in Korea to a 2013 exchange semester in the United States, where two Korean friends introduced him to Korean music and food. He arrived in Korea on August 25, 2015, after winning a Korean Government Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree.
Turning a move into a story.
He thought of the name Korea Diaries on the flight to Korea and used it as a social-media hashtag before launching the blog. In his own account of receiving Seoul honorary citizenship, he credits the Korea.net Honorary Reporters program with helping him explore the country and build cultural connections.
Finding an audience.
His YouTube channel began with travel videos and grew into everyday Korean life, street interviews and guides for Pakistani viewers. A November 2020 interview reported more than 140,000 subscribers. In July 2021, his article about Pakistani BTS fans’ Eid henna designs became Korea.net’s most-read Honorary Reporter story for that week.
